"the mother of obstetric anesthesia".
She is well known all over the world, especially for her exceptional teaching
skills.
In a clinical and academic career spanning more than five decades, Dr. Marx
has devoted her life to improving the care of mothers and their babies
during child birth.

understanding of maternal and fetal physiology, the different responses
of pregnant women to methods of pain relief and the most advantageous
means of providing analgesia and anesthesia during labor and delivery.
